– ABOUT THIS VIDEO –
The best hiking boots must meet a basic requirement: they must keep you comfortable while you hike. A devoted hiker will not be deterred from their regular stroll by snow, rain, or heat. (Actually, we’re not thrilled with the rain.) But whether or not you enjoy the hike will be determined first by what’s on your feet. You’re not going to have a good time if your boots chafe, slip, or leak.

To find the best boots for certain walks and hikers, we tested a plethora of models in the mud, slush, rain, and sun to find the best boots for specific climbs and hikers. We trudged and traipsed hundreds of miles to evaluate each pair’s comfort, grip, foot and fit ankle protection, and weatherproof qualities.

  1. Had all of them. Now I am the 21st year in my MEINDL ISLAND PRO´s, exchanged the vibram outer sole 2x times and I will use them for sure another 10 years. There are no better hiking shoes from my experience.

  2. I had Merrell Moab hiking shoes twice before, and both times they only lasted three years; the outsole wears out quickly; the sides came apart; and no, they are not waterproof. The Merrell Moab were one of the worse hiking shoes I ever had. I then bought the OBOZ Bridger Low B-Dry Hiking Shoes; and so far they have lasted past four years; with some wear on the outsole, and holes on the paddled ankle lining ( which is normal for me on any hiking shoe I’ve worn)

  3. I love the MOAB but they are 💯 not water proof at all! Even if you are in wet grass it’s too much water for it to handle! You might as well save the cash and not get the WP option.

  4. Merrell MOAB are some of the worst hiking boots I have EVER worn. Crap materials. No comfort at all via foot bed, fell apart right out of the box. Merrell knew it because when I contacted them to return the boots they knew every issue I was dealing with. Immediately issued me their Merrell moccasin which is fantastic. I
Only wish the outsole lasted longer.

  5. Another robot trying to convince me what’s best to buy. 🙄 Remember when humans actually tried and reviewed products?

  6. The boots in the thumbnail are Lowa Renegades. They are good work boots but DO NOT use them on extended backpacking trips. The material gets loose and you cant stop enough times & tighten the strings to keep them stable. 👎🏻👎🏻
